Most Important Parts of a Blog Post

Blogging has many great benefits, but the absolute goal would be if your post could go viral. Though there is no way to guarantee those results, there are certainly ways to increase your chances.

1.  An Eye Catching Headline

Since you might only have a split second to grab the attention of a reader, the headline is your key element that will determine whether or not you will attract readers.  Even though having good quality content is very important, it may not even be read if the headline isn't attractive.  Spend the time creating a really awesome headline; you will boost your chances of others reading your blog post.

Be sure you headline has these elements:

Urgent:  Throughout the internet, procrastination runs rampant.  A lot of people put things off until they are completely forgotten.  Your headline has to communicate urgency so they will open it right then.

Useful:  Why should people read your blog post to begin with?  Always be sure that the headline communicates its usefulness to all the readers and also be sure the headline makes it crystal clear that the blog post is well worth anyone's time.

Extremely Specific:  It is very important that you are extremely specific in your headline.  Do not ever confuse the readers and be sure you let everyone know precisely what they will be receiving by reading your blog post.

Unique:  Remember that the internet is full of garbage; you want to assure readers that your blog isn’t just another waste of space.  The headline needs to show that your blog post is very different from all the other blogs they are reading.

2.  Never Under Deliver

A lot of the viral campaigns will fail and it is not because of their headlines but because of their content.  When you misuse a good headline it will hurt you and never help you.  Why?  Because very compelling headlines that have really low quality content lead only to very disappointed readers.

Awesome headlines by themselves are not the reason for a post going viral, however awesome headlines that are backed up by good quality content are.  The better the value, the more likely readers will share the information with a friend.
